Joshua Dawson
Ph.D. Student
I am a 3rd year Ph.D. Student and U.S. Army Aviation Officer working with Prof. Jason Wiese in the Personal Data and Empowerment Lab (PeDEL) of the Kahlert School of Computing at the University of Utah.
My research interest lies at the intersection of Human-Centered Computing (HCC), Smart Home Technology/IoT, and Accessibility in a hospital setting. I am studying how smart home technology implemented in smart patient rooms can improve the patient and healthcare worker experience. As a researcher, my goal is to understand the patient and employee experiences of living and working in smart patient rooms. Based on this knowledge, I hope to explore design opportunities for future smart hospitals.
